Our Internship Programs

The School supports a number of internship programs in its commitment to help students achieve their career goals. Internships offer students both practical experience and the opportunity to make valuable industry connections. Students who undertake internships during their degrees develop practical skills, build self-confidence and gain competencies in the workplace.

In recognition the highly successful and innovative internship program offered to students in the School of Political Science and International Studies our program was awarded the 2008 UQ Award for Teaching and Learning Excellence and the Australian Teaching and Learning Council's 2009 Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning.

The School of Political Science and International Studies encourages its students to participate in the University's exchange program.

The University of Queensland, through its UQ Abroad program has many exchange agreements with overseas universities that allow students to study at an overseas university and receive credit towards their UQ degree. The School encourages students to take advantage of these arrangements in order to:
  • be exposed to new career and academic opportunities;
  • refine language skills;
  • gain a broader perspective of the world;
  • experience another culture first-hand;
  • be able to offer employers international experience.

The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences and can also provide financial assistance to students to travel to some countries through the Australian University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific Program (UMAP). The University also offers a number of scholarships/bursaries which are administered through the UQ Abroad office.
