 School Wins Four Awards for Teaching and Learning


Four academics from the School of Political Science and International Studies have been honoured at this year's Teaching Awards.

At the 2009 SBS Faculty event, Mr Shannon Brincat and Ms Leah Aylward were both given awards for Tutoring Excellence, Dr Martin Weber, lecturer in International Relations, was awarded for Teaching Excellence,.

At the University's Annual Teaching Awards ceremony,  Dr Jean-Louis Durand, also a lecturer in International Relations, was given a Commendation for Teaching Excellence.

This is Dr Durand's second such award having been honoured by the Faculty last year.

These latest awards follow on from the success at national level of Dr Andrew Hindmoor, Ms Claire Pomery and a team from the School who worked on the Political Science Internship Program. They were recipients of a 2009 Australian Award for University Teaching in the category Educational Partnerships and Collaborations with Other Organisations.

Head of School, Associate Professor Gillian Whitehouse said, 'It's been an amazingly successful year for the School in Teaching and Learning - congratulations to everyone!'
