Background:

Andrew Hindmoor, who took up an appointment within the School of Political Science in 2005, is engaged in research in public policy and rational choice theory. His interest in public policy encompasses both Australian and British politics, institutions and institutional change, and the relationship between party competition and public policy outputs, this being the subject of his book New Labour at the Centre published by Oxford University Press in 2005. His interest in rational choice theory has led to the recent publication of Rational Choice in the Political Analysis series published by Palgrave Macmillan. His current research on the policy impact of select committees is being supported by the House of Commons through the provision of a research assistant and his past work on local policy implementation was supported through a A$260,000 grant by Devon County Council.
